Making the Grade

When I was a kid, we got report cards every 6 weeks in elementary school (I know, teacher friends, can you imagine?! Granted, they were 1/2 a page in length and the teachers simply penciled in our grades and wrote a quick comment... nothing like we do now).

If Charlotte were to get a report card at 6 weeks old, it might look like this:

Math: A+   Even as a newborn, she's got #1 and #2 mastered!!

Reading: A-  I try to read books with her every day, but sometimes it just doesn't happen.

Social Studies: A+   Charlotte is a very social baby and loves to be held by anyone willing! She's also very aware of her surroundings and seems to recognize different geographical areas - she likes to walk up to the mailbox with me and check out what's going on in the back yard, loves looking around her nursery from her changing table, loves looking at the pictures on the wall at grandma's house, and apparently dislikes walking through the town of Mackinaw.

Science: A+  Charlotte gets along well with Donny and Marie, likes to listen to the birds chirping outside, and enjoys going for nature walks around our big yard. She's also beginning to form opinions about different types of weather.

Music: A+  She loves when people sing to her - even when Mr. Ron is singing "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Ben's also been working with her on quarter notes and eighth notes.

Physical Fitness/Health: A+  She may be little, but she's growing like a weed!! She's a good eater, does well sleeping at night, and is growing out of her clothes quicker than I expected!

Time is FLYING and she's already so different than she was the day we brought her home (except, of course, the love she has for her hands hasn't changed a bit). She loves to study everyone and everything within eyesight while she's awake. She even slept in her crib overnight for the first time this weekend - and it went really well! I got a baby bathtub for her and, just as I thought she would, she loved it!

This is her father's yawn

Couldn't you just nom nom nom those little toes all day long?

All that was left of her swaddle one morning. She's Houdini.
