She grows and learns and changes just a little bit every single day. When she spends the night over at her Grandma's house, she looks bigger when she comes home - knows a few more words - asks a few more questions - has lost a few more 'baby' hairs.
This age... So many people call it the "Terrible Twos" - - well I have yet to see that (granted, I have half of a year left). Sure, she has her off days, gets her feelings hurt, has trouble with disappointment, and is still learning the fine art of sharing and taking turns, but oh boy have we lucked out in so many ways. Charlotte not only plays well with other kids, but she plays well by herself. This has come in so handy these last 7 months since Natalie was born. It stinks that she has to hear "in a little while" so often, but oh my gosh is she such a good sport about it. And yes, sometimes she talks back, but how lucky are we to have a 2.5 year old who can express her feelings so well? She can tell me why she's sad, why she feels mad, what she wants, where she left her dolly, what part of her leg hurts. And even though it seems like every sentence out of her mouth either starts or stops with "Mommy," oh, oh how sweet it is.
She jumps (a bunch of times... in a row), climbs, runs, rolls, wiggles, dances, and squirms. She sings and claps and stomps around. She loves jokes, cooking, tickle fights, pretending, building, imagining, cuddling, reading, learning, exploring, making friends, bath time, her sister... She loves LIFE. And every day I'm lucky enough to spend with her, she teaches me something new about life. and love.
Here's a cute little interview of some of Charlotte's favorites at 2.5 years old (and Natalie's photo-bombing the whole time):
Happy 1/2 Birthday, Charlotte! You brighten our lives and we love you very much!
