My belly is growing - can you tell? :o)
I've supposedly only gained 9 or 10 pounds, but it feels like 30 or 40. The waddling, bumping into things, and the constant 'big' feeling this early on makes me nervous for July and August... I guess when everyone says they see baby belly, I just see BELLY.
I went to the doctor last Monday at 22 weeks. My parents were visiting, so I invited my mom to come to the appointment with me. It was kind of a stressful drive, and when I got there, my blood pressure was elevated (about 150/95), so the nurse told me to relax for a few minutes and they'd check again. So while we were waiting, I sprawled out on the bed and watched the baby kick - mom even got to feel one! At the end of the appointment, the nurse took my BP again and it was a normal 125/78. The heartbeat and other measurements were all healthy - we've been so blessed with such a healthy pregnancy!
I saw the Nurse Practitioner that I saw at the beginning and talked to her about my concerns with the doctor I'd seen the last two months. She gave me a recommendation for another doctor in the practice and I'll meet him at my next appointment on May 4. I'll be taking the glucose test at that time to check for gestational diabetes.
After my parents' visit, Ben and I drove up to IL and spent the weekend with his parents. Ben was able to return to ISU with 3 other percussionists from UK as guest performers. ISU has changed A LOT in the last 6 years! After the performance, the group took a photo with the current ISU percussion students.
We also got to eat at Gil's with Ben's family (I'd never been there before). They were happy to be able to see him perform again. Saturday, while Ben was in rehearsal, I drove to Champaign to go to my friend Jessyca's baby shower. She's expecting twins in May and couldn't look any cuter!! It was so nice to catch up with her and to meet some of her family and friends. For those of you who don't know, Jessyca's husband, Adam, went to UNLV with Ben.
I'm so lucky to have some mommy friends, a couple of cousins-in-law who have recently become mommies, and some currently-preggo mommies to answer all of my questions and share ideas!
I'm feeling a lot of squirming and kicking these days - at least 3 or 4 times each day (5-10 movements each time) and can feel them and see them through my clothes! Ben's been able to feel her a couple of times, but it seems like most of the time, the instant I tell him to feel, she stops moving. Typical.
The weather here can't seem to make up its mind - we'll have 2 days of lovely, warm, and sunny weather, then 5 days of raining and/or cold weather. I'm looking forward to more warm and sunny days - mostly so I can wear dresses since I can't fit into my pants anymore! Take care - and thanks for your warm wishes and prayers! :o)
