An Unpleasant Gift

I keep this blog so I can reread through all of the girls' funny stories, keep track of their milestones, and hopefully share some of it with them when they're older.

Yesterday, Charlotte was mad at me for some reason, I forget why. She stomped around and sulked for awhile in the other room. After a few minutes she came back to me with a little wooden box.

"I'm giving you an unpleasant gift."

"An unpleasant gift?" laughing with Ben... "Why are you giving me an unpleasant gift?"

"Because you were unpleasant to me."

You guys, where does she learn to talk like this?

The "unpleasant gift" was a fish that came in the throat of a penguin toy from a McDonald's happy meal. She gave me a dead fish. Why is that even a toy in a happy meal?

Ben and I were laughing, and before long, Charlotte was laughing too. All of the irritation we'd both felt with each other melted away and we moved on with our lives.

I considered posting this story on Facebook, but knew it deserved more than a status update. But so many other golden gems get posted as quick little status updates, so here are some tidbits I've posted on FB that I thought I should keep here, too. :)
