Letters From Santa

Charlotte has been pretty skeptical of the whole Santa thing this year. She figured out that Santa couldn't possibly be in two different places at the same time after overhearing me talk about going to see him at the mall versus going to Uptown Normal where he has his own little cottage with Mrs. Claus and even some elves. So I had to let her know that Santa hires helpers to relay Christmas wishes from little boys and girls.
She doesn't buy the chimney part either.
"How could a person fit down the chimney?"
"How does Santa get into houses without chimneys?"
"What if someone is roasting smarshmallows in their fireplace on Christmas Eve? Santa would get burned up!"
"How do the presents fit down the chimney?"
"Won't his reindeer fall off the roof waiting for him?"

I can't use a blanket "it's magic" statement to explain Santa, since I had to tell her magic is not real when she became worried Natalie would develop magical powers and start freezing her like in the movie Frozen...

Three years old is simply too young not to believe in Santa!! But I'm also not keen on going out of my way for years and years pushing her. Luckily, Grandma Val gave Santa our address & the girls got letters from Santa today!

Charlotte was skeptical at first. She's saying, "Is this really from Santa?"
But the letters had specific information about Charlotte & Natalie! Santa knew that Natalie would love a stuffed Olaf. Santa knew that Charlotte's been sounding out words. Santa knows they live in Bloomington! Santa also included special instructions to leave some carrots out for Rudolph and the gang since they need energy. He also included little baggies of reindeer food for us to sprinkle on the lawn on Christmas Eve. It was just what we needed to keep the magic alive with this smart cookie!
